Evergy launches Evergy Cares Fund

New program helps Kansans pay their energy bills

Wichita, KS – April 3, 2024 - Evergy has created a new assistance program to help Kansas residents pay their energy bills.

Customers who are behind on their energy bill and meet the 200 percent poverty level can apply to receive financial assistance through the Evergy Cares Kansas Fund.

The program can help customers get their account in good standing after the Cold Weather Rule ended March 31 and the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) application window closed March 29. The assistance will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Qualifying Kansas customers in Wichita and the surrounding counties can schedule an in-person appointment to apply for the program with a Connect Specialist at Evergy Connect. Customers will be notified of their approval at the in-person appointment. The center is open 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday through Friday at 111 South Ellis. Bilingual Connect specialists are also available.

View eligibility requirements and make an in-person appointment at www.evergy.com/evergycares.

Evergy Connect is our in-person customer assistance center in downtown Wichita which offers customized face-to-face consultations and application assistance for utility payment programs and resources, self-service kiosks, energy-savings tools, electric vehicles and an array of additional resources.
