Caney Levee Floodplain Mapping
Open House Public Information Sheet

General Information
Thank you for taking the time to understand floodplain mapping changes that are underway in
the City of Caney and how those changes affect you. It is important to note that this mapping is
not yet regulatory, but in some cases may be usable as best available data. The mapping is
currently in Draft, and we anticipate issuing Preliminary maps in Fall 2024 with the maps likely
becoming effective in the Summer 2027. The City of Caney would appreciate public feedback on
the flood hazard areas and base flood elevations. Please submit any comments to your
Floodplain Administrator or the State Floodplain Mapping Coordinator (flip sheet over for
contact information) by October 18, 2024. Your community will then compile these comments
and send them to the State for review.
